Call for TA Fellows: 2013 Graduate TA Conference

Call for TA Fellows at Graduate TA Conference, August 20, 2013

Application Deadline: Friday, June 28

FY reference: Feedback from 2012 TA Fellows

We invite senior TAs to share their instructional knowledge, expertise, and experiences with newly-appointed TAs by participating as session facilitator and informal mentor during the August 2013 TA Conference and, at the same time, enhance the professional development portion of their CV and academic ePortfolio.
In the Fellow role, TAs will facilitate a 45-minute session(s) on a teaching topic for first-time TAs and serve as informal peer mentors. Conference sessions are led by TA Fellows, faculty, and staff from departments across the University. Given the increasing number of participants, we are offering several sessions twice during the conference and talented, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic facilitators are in high demand. The conference has been scheduled for Tuesday, August 20 at the Trabant University Center and Gore Hall.
Please complete the online application below: Application deadline: Friday, June 28
We look forward to your joining us.  Please contact Ms. Kristen Hefner, TA Conference Coordinator, CTAL - for information or questions.
TA Conference information and updates:
  •  I enjoyed teaching the actual session. It was fun presenting the material to new TAs who were genuinely interested in learning to teach and eager to participate.
  •  Being able to share my experiences and the knowledge I have about TAing with new TAs is very rewarding. We were all in their shoes at one time and just being available and being a resource for them to answer their questions about TAing and graduate school is really great and enjoyable.
  •  I appreciated the support from CTAL staff and the camaraderie among all Fellows. Serving as a TA Fellow adds a great item to your resume but you learn so much yourself while teaching others.
We look forward to receiving your application. Thank you!
